thanks. i'm happy with how it came out. will we get to see some more of your laurel? Definetly, theres just not much too show or get excited about with it at this moment, i would rather put photo's up when something juicy and worthwhile has been done to it. Its most likely returning back home next week when i get back home from working away, it was getting some welding done to the sills, rear arch tubs, front footwells, battery tray and some other bits from the worlds slowest welder guy, but i dont want it home for long as i then want it sent through to Edinburgh to get the rotten windscreen scuttle cut out and a new section put in by a proper classic car resto buisness, they are the only one's i trusted to carry out such a job. I'm making it my mission to have it MoT'd by say April time. I really wanna start enjoying this car and pottering about with it.

so. finally done some work on this. petrol engine is in and mounted now i'm just conecting it all up. quite a lot to sort out really, i thought it was going to go a lot quicker then this... anyways. have hit a problem. the engine i brought didn't come with a water pump pulley. now i didn't think that'd be an issue and i tried the pulley of of the diesel lump. well that doesn't line up can't really see whats going on in the pic. but i need a twin belt pulley that sits closer to the block. water pumps look the same, so the difference is in the pulley. so i'm after a water pump pulley from a straight six petrol. i'd think a pulley from anything straight six with power steering will work.

I'll have a look on the pair of spare L24E engines I have knocking abour and see if there's still a pulley on either of them.

OK, my ex-C210 L24E has a full set of pulleys. It only has a single belt on the water pump pulley however, as the PAS belt comes off the crank pully then goes over a tensioner at the top. I checked on the C230 and that seems to be the same.
I've taken it off anyway, I can send it out as soos as you let me know whether it'll be OK.

The pulley I sent you did the trick then?
Not 100% sure whether this is true in all cases, but I don't know if 4-cyl pulleys would fit 6-cyl. I remember trying to fit an ex-C210 viscous fan onto a 610 and it wouldn't go on for some reason.

Yes thankyou pulley fitted straight on, no spacers needed and viscous went on over the top. ah yeh, i think i've tried swaping viscous fans around and they didn't go on due to the four bolt PCD being different.

you nicked the lamps off the A10? Bought some crystal lamps for that? pulleys different. Different PCD on 4 and 6 cyl for a start.
