well. got all the electrics sorted, fuel pump all wired up and everything on the engine all working. but got another issue.... the carb is flooding. seams like the needle valve is not shutting off properly and is allowing the fuel bowl in the carb to fill up and dump the fuel straight into the inlet manifold pic of the carb and the needle valve. it does feel like the valve is a little sticky as it doesn't move freely. so i'm now on the hunt for a needle valve or overhaul kit for the carb. any ideas?

well.... i might have figured out why i'm having issues... managed to find i pic of a 430 280C engine bay and it looks like i've got the fuel inlet and return round the wrong way. there was a restrictor in the upper metal pipe, i though it was for the return, but seams like it's for the inlet. anyways. pic of how it should look. now i'll put it back together like that and see if it fixes it.

ok. well i fixed the flooding issue. it may have been a small blockage in the return line but that now working fine. but now i've an issue with it running with a miss just off idle, i've stripped the carb, removed all the jets and blown it all through. still not running great though. and now it looks like the headgasket may be blown nope, turned out one of the pipes was split also noticed that the gearbox is a little noisey in fifth, didn't notice this with the diesel engine. so.... it's not gone well

been driving this and ironing out all the little issues before i stick it back up for sale. found out the starter motor was rubbing on the steering box, this was what was making the strange noises. so i fitted spacer under the righthand engine mount which has shifted the engine just enough to get clearance. suspension has been raised a little and new wheels are on, though center caps not yet fitted. currently looks like this

i've been thinking i'd be sticking it up at £3750 once i've totally sorted out everything and got fresh tax and test on it.
though i would take on a part ex. C32 SGX or C33 diesel would be cool. or maybe a R32 skyline i could drop a diesel in...
