Is it possible to put some black tape at the rear side of the rev. counter crack so the light can't be seen?

hahaha, yeh i know. been thinking bout this all morning and i just can't justify it. thats the trouble with old nissans like this, they're just so cheap that most of em are worth more in parts. there's a complete one in Bath, taxed and MOTed for a little over a grand... just try and recycle as much of this one as you can. thats how i'm justifying breaking my sunny ZX. all thats gonna be left of that for the scrapman will be a shell and some suspension. for a fuel tank, i belive one from a 240k will work. sedans and estates are different. you might find that the front suspension, struts, lower arms and brakes from this will fit your 810. oh and well done on the engine pull though you'll find refitting will take a bit more work and time ;D

that does seem a shame to break a fixable s12, they really are quite hard to find now.

That one does look good at that price I never new what they were like until this one and I love it to bits it handles really well and smooth as hell. I got this car at a steal. I suppose to make money I could mot it or keep it as a daily and sell my bluebird but then this engine in my 810 would be wicked to.

be cheaper and easier to have the S12 as a daily.... you've still gotta spend money and time to convert the 810.
but you've gotta do something with this 810. you prob won't get that much for it if you sell it. and you can really keep it if you don't use it, seeing as you have 3 other 810's already... ;D

My engine is not going into a nissan or datsun so its will have a custom tank made up, think al has sort of answered the question above though.
When i collected the wagon there was the full front suspension off the donor s12 in the garage so it did seem that Si was planning on swapping it in but i wasn't sure and couldn't really justify making an offer on parts i didn't need at the time.
There is a cheap r33 on ebay at the moment which is around the price drift boys are paying for just the engine and box and has a few nice bits fitted, some damage on the front, been drifted so not had the easiest life but it is cheap.
Let me know when its stripped down as i would like to cut the rear subframe mounts and rear curved areas of "chassis" off the shell if possible, for next winters project................

God I'm confused I'm going out for a spin in it. My 810 the project now I'm never gonna sell as I love the saloons more than the estates. I probably will sell one of the wagons spring time but will offer it to club members first but I'm defo keeping the 2 saloons if I don't break the silvia then I will have to get the 20det as the engines out now. If the silvia breaks then I will offer it to club first

what do you want from this car when you done?
if you wanna build something fast then i'd say go for an SR20DET/CA18DET now.
if your building a daily, then you need to figure out how fast and how good on fuel you need it to be.

Personally i was tempted by the s12 for a "winter hack", weld it up MOT use it for 3 months then sell or break it (which ever got more money back)
When i looked into chucking the ca in the wagon, there s not a great deal to gain for the amount of work IMO, a lot of people don't like them, hence why its ended up in my standard.
I'll be running the wagon on the L series see how it goes then i might pull it off the road next winter and stick a sr in it.
At the end of the day it will come down to what you want from it!!

True well the plans for this will be fitting the engine and once the whole car is complete moving over to extreme scoobys whereby the end result should be roughly 180 bhp safe for gearbox and internals. This will be plenty for my 810. I've driven the engine and there's not much turbo lag and with a bigger turbo and front mount intercooler and boost control and new turbo seals I think for my own taste it will be the best way. Personally I think this engine will be top dollar for my likings. I never thought about the engine conversation it was never on the list until now and should be a great result of th lights. I personally think from running the original engine 70 bhp to this roughly 120 bhp you will feel especially the torque and speaking with Antdat there's not a lot to the conversion and If the silvia puts a smile on my face the 810 defo will. I've got the big bhp car and there just not good as daily drivers and suck your pockets out

should be able to get hold of a T25 turbo from a S13 pretty easy and i think Eric on here was after a standard S12 T2 turbo....?
front mount intercooler will be easy enough to source too.

Yep you've got it. That's the way I'm gonna go t25 turbo, front mount and boost control that's the way, thank god that's finalised. I'm excited and scared on the work that I'm gonna do as an amateur but I'm sure you'll all guide me
