Ricky - I have got to say that you are doing us proud! The amount of effort and time you put into your cars is phenomenal! We need more people putting the amount of time into their Datsun's as you do! I have to say the SSS wasnt in great shape in the pics but the turn around so far is simply amazing. Kudos to you Ricky !

Amazing work...if you have spare time I can spread the word to other AWOL Non Datsun owners who are not on this forum that you can assist with painting etc. The extra money can fund your DATSUN projects (not that you need it but every little counts) ha ha. Om a serious note they are all petrolheads and you have met a few of them already and not everyone is as able as you are....let me know what you think and keep updating the thread so that we can also be part of the SSS transformation......

I had a very rare opportunity of bidding on a 810 SSS on ebay. Most will be aware that this car sold previously for silly money to a trader. When she came back on sale this was a opportunity that I could not miss. An offer was made and the seller accepted. I think the purchase cycle of this car will remain as one of those mysteries. The person who originally bought the car ( lets call him A) when it was advertised for silly money was a grease monkey - acting on orders from someone else ( lets call him Z) higher up the food chain who wanted to keep his identity concealed. My conspiracy theory is that Z knew that the car was a steal at the original price of a few hundred, but they would not be ble to flip-flop it and make big profit as it may hurt their credibility amongst fellow enthusiasts and forum friends, ( on the basis that most of us on this forum are here for the love of the marque and it's enjoyment, rather than to make money from fellow owners). Therefore clever Z hired A, who for a few beers and kebabs acted as the agent in this whole deal and kept Z's identity intact. A had no interest whatsoever in Datsuns... Ricky, do you think you will ever get down to finding the truth as to what happened in those 7 days? ....not that it matters anyway

Many thanks Manjit, I don't mind helping others out on AWOL once my to projects are done. Just need to find the time. Also for little jobs they can bring there own materials and no charge. It's what it's all about helping each other. Jamie just fitted stem seals in my cosworth for free so that's how it works. Also I need a couple of AWOL stickers please.

Ricky, do you think you will ever get down to finding the truth as to what happened in those 7 days? ....not that it matters anyway Well this is a touchy subject. So my thoughts. It's sad that this happened and your theory is spot on. This is what happened. So the first owner was'nt aware of what the real value is of a sss and the rarity so he went in blind at advertised it for parts money. It's a sad state of affairs that this happened from Mr Z, one of our memebers. When i sell a car i will always post it on here first to give all memebers a chance to buy at a good price. If there is no intrest then it will go onto other sites for alot more money. Mr Z made a lot of money from me and told me he was not intrested in the car but behind closed doors was fishing me in with the seller on ebay 'his mates'. I knew his games and followed every step. Unfortunitly they new my passion for 810's and to finish of my collection i needed this SSS. So instead of playing a bidding war on ebay where Mr Z would be just bidding for the sake of it and my money going up and up i had no alternative after discussing with some very close friends on here to give a 1 outstanding offer that would close the deal and stop the price from shoting up by Mr Z. It's very sad but there was no choice as another 810 sss coming up for sale at this price would of been rare. Thank fully we have Damien who done a good deal with me and is carrying out the welding work for me to keep costs low. It would of been an amazing result at the first price but to me i would not of mattered as i would of purchased this car at any price because of my love for the 810. But now i have my collection of the 810's im done. What goes around comes around folks. But im over the moon and thats what counts

Loads and loads of hard grafting ^^ This fella deserves a medal for all the hard work and excellent fabrication work done to date. Ricky, I hope that Vodka bottle you use as "energy drink " isnt also used by Damien whilst he is on the job ?
