not sure Ricky. i think some people just aren't as willing to walk up to strangers and start chatting. maybe the fact a load of you guys rolled up late together made you look outsiders? i had to speak to everyone and try and organize, thats why i pretty much missed seeing the whole RR show apart from our little bit. but thats OK, we had all the good stuff anyway!

But there is one thing on my mind and hope this topic don't go into a a banter but we all banter well and join in on threads but at shows for example RR there's not much bonding. I'm not sure If you know what I mean my first meet when joining Datsun forum was RR and I felt welcomed and everyone was making an effort and getting on well. The last RR I personally felt a strange vibe. The members I did no obviously I talked to but others were like just looking at me and being reserved. You could see some talking about me or my cars but never bother coming over. I made effort looking at everyone's cars and so on but what an atmosphere. Maybe it was my shirt saying 'Japcrap' lol Ricky, I was not there and if I didn't know you and you came with a shirt saying "Japcrap" I would not make the effort to talk to you. How would I know if its humour or you are a disguised Dub man taking the mickey out of us Datty enthusiasts Also, I think we have to respect that everone is different, not everyone has that kind of get up and mingle type of personality. Some people are very private and find it hard to go and make a conversation and may find it easier to commuincate on the forum. Having said that there will always be some individuals that you may not get along with -that is just the way life is and we have to accept and get on with it

not sure Ricky. i think some people just aren't as willing to walk up to strangers and start chatting. I agree with you everyone is not the same to get up and have a chat! It does get easier if you have the same marque of car and you are all aprked together maybe the fact a load of you guys rolled up late together made you look outsiders? Why would anyone look at other form members who have Datsuns/Nissans and parking their vehicles in the stand as "outsiders" . Most of the AWOL members or forum users live with a radius of around 4 miles from each other and usually arrange a meet up point near the Event and convoy together. This is not exclusive to AWOL guys only, other members are welcome - the more the merrier. i had to speak to everyone and try and organize, thats why i pretty much missed seeing the whole RR show apart from our little bit. but thats OK, we had all the good stuff anyway! Understandable as its not easymanaging a club ...

Was there ever a build thread on this. The only photos I've ever see are these 2 is there anymore. Was this car running the standard sss engine The other thing I've noticed is that on the boot the SSS doesn't have the long silver trim like the saloons

I think eventually it ended up with a CA18DET in it? Here's a closer view of the back end: 1977/78 Datsun 180B SSS (810) by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr I've just found a few more detail shots on my PC, I'll try and upload them over the weekend.

Nigel, I am with you on this one...I am not a big fan of the rubber end caps or even the over-riders/ bumper guards. If this were mine, I wouldn't re- install those rubber strips and have full chrome bumpers instead with zero rubber attachments. And would defo swap the grill for the one used in Australian 200B's ..in my experience .subtle enhancements change the look dramatically.... ..just a few thoughts for Ricky
