Our USA Datsun cruises and such,,, now with color pictures! (Read 676 times)

Hello i would like to share pictures of our club/forum cruises around the Northwestern United States..  I live in a small town south of a place called Olympia Washington. It rains here quite a bit even in the summer as our weather is directly effected by the Pacific ocean. but our cars are mostly just daily drivers not show cars. Datsuns are very abundant here probably because we are inland enough to have very little salt in the air, and it hardly ever snows here ( 56 degrees Fahrenheit and raining most of the year) so the road dept. doesn`t use salt on roads in winter.

Anyway ,, here`s a cruise we did late last year up to and around a extinct volcano called Mt. Rainer.


You know it`s out there when the GPS doesn't show the road your on..

It is a very steep incline and to help get fat tourists up there the roads have VERY tight turns ,,, make for very fun driving ,,, fellow member Qtip seen through the two cars

Yeah, quite a while but it was for the most part keeping my brothers cars going, i am  into them more lately because the price of gas here has shot up dramatically since 2001 and i love driving more than parking.. .. In 2010 i took my brothers parts car and put ( what was left of it) back together and realized the 83 280zx turbo i had been driving just wasn`t as fun a experience as the little 1600 could give ,, every time you drive it.

Lovely cars..... and scenery. We are pretty much used to rain in the UK, as well. You say you have it for most of the year but you picked a good day for the run. Keep the pics coming.

This was a cruise/drive in February to meet up with the north Seattle area guys, about a 2 hour drive up the freeway from us ,  it was raining so hard we had to retreat to inside the parking garage..

So this brings us up to very late March , we had a meet-up at a members powder coating shop in Tumwater and subsequent drive to nearby town called Olympia which is the state capitol ,, hence the stone column buildings.

It was a brisk day as the people were moving around the cars try to stop the  suffering from hypothermia can`t be photoshopped out..

that 521 king cab with the flareside bed looks kinda strange?

The old dude Wayno that built it is a quirky old bird,, it has a 720 diesel truck frame under it,, I don`t know 4 cylinder diesel designations ,, but i want to say SD22 maybe. Till about 2007 when scrap metal prices shot through the roof you might see a Datsun truck of some type in 1 in every 200 backyards up here.. But they are pretty scarce now.

We are on a pretty tight budget having 4 kids so i skipped a couple months of meet dates.. Your probably thinking thank goodness we don`t have to wade through this Yankees same pictures over and over again.. Well you will be partially right but skipping those months brings us to the second weekend in June.. To a show that is affectionately known only as Canby , it is the largest Datsun shows up here ,, cars travel thousands of miles for this 3 day event/campout/show/bbq shenanigan fest.


Put on by a Oregon state car club named Datsuns Northwest it`s full name is Driving Datsun Canby Fun 2013
There`s a huge camping area on the fairgrounds far parking lot so you never have to leave.

Here`s a good example of how many long distance people come to this,,,, all the cars up to the guy in red shirt drove up from San Fransisco area in a huge caravan ,, about 620 miles one way.














A guy named Erich drove this thing that has solid rear suspension from La Habra California,, Google maps shows this as 974 miles one way..

If you have high speed internet i beg you to watch these videos , to see shear numbers of Datsuns that show up every year..
 The first one is a drive around Sunday afternoon .. The second one is the camping area Saturday after show...

I was hoping you guys would feel that way,, cuz i still got 2 tiny meet-ups to go till i'm caught up for the year...

Blue wagon
It is called a 411 there is an earlier model designated 410 that looks the same except the tail lights have a round light on the inside edge
Most over here would say they are the most European looking of any Datsun.. That wagon is standard with j13 engine and drum brakes ,, there is an SSS model that would have come with a R1600 roadster motor and front disc brakes..Did you guys get them over there??

We can only hope Kamikazi620s  baby will turn out like anybody else but Kamakazi620 (Joey)
