wonder if it would be easier to glue the lining to the board whilst fitted to the car? to help keep it's shape?

Im guessing he has no plans to EVER sell that car as so far every 'modificiation' seems to be shaving value off it. Al you could get the board flocked anyways this brown one will probably dissolve within a year so I wouldn't go too crazy on 'polishing the brass on the titanic' Now has two spakin' new brake cylinders, and the front bumper is currently off. Also the sill now has metal in the last 6 inches.

as so far every 'modificiation' seems to be shaving value off it. What modifications? Ah... yes, I fitted a buzzer to the light switch, removed the electronic ignition and... of course, the headlining (it was sitting on my head !) I was thinking of non-original alloys, engine swap, lowering, fitting one of those ring thingies to the rear bumper and maybe some non-standard seats, rear axle and paint..... but maybe not now

I was confused but now you mention those hub caps, I have to agree with you. I have taken them off and the valuation shot up by 50%! Still looking for those Konig rewinds. Someone here has them on the same model; They look fab and well groovy!

To paint it you would have to remove all the foam that is stuck to the cardboard; also near impossible.

also planning on painting the outside fairly quickly too.
will just be a cheap job but i think it's gonna look pretty cool.

you can't paint thin air! inner rear wing bottoms are rather.. holy! I'm imagining run this for a year as a hack then strip it, it would be difficult to restore.

i'll see once i've got it.
do you mean metal behind the rear wheels? there's no suspension mounting points back there so easy to bodge it up.

Surely the increasing value and desirability of these nowadays makes it worthwhile considering an eventual restoration? Not as if there are many RHD markets to import these from either, though I appreciate a decent LHD model could probably be imported from the USA.

Surely the increasing value and desirability of these nowadays makes it worthwhile considering an eventual restoration? of course. but i intend to use this rather then store it away hoping it will someday be worth restoring. i intend to do my best to stop it from getting worse, hence why i will be painting it fully underneath as well as giving it a coat of paint on top. be great if it does get restored one day. hopefully by me saving it from being broken now, and spending the time, money and effort on it, it will stand a chance.
