Another rat Datsun? 80mm on those wheels is going to require serious negative camber upfront and flaring of wheel arches ESP rear ones.. Should be ace when done ! i assume you mean my laurel? i wanna get that sorted and looking a lot better. as for this one, the rear arches are just rust and filler anyway so i've got no problem cutting them out. fronts are pretty holey too... i will be fitting plastic arches, thou they won't be very wide ones. i have thought about fitting a laurel axle to widen the rear and then running bigger arches.... but, as this is a budget build and i want to keep this as a daily i need to control my urges ;D

The rat datsun reference was a general remark, not specific to your fleet !I guess if the arches are shot, then makes sense to chop of the rot and slap on some over fenders. They will look lovely on the A10 coupe lines Not entirely sure I understand why you would want to swap the axle for a wider unit, unless you plan a big hp engine swap. The H165 will cope with 200lb\ft depending on how you drive. Would be easier to use spacers if all you want is to widen track to fill up arches etc ??

yeh it would be just for the width. i don't mind running spacers. but the fact the wheels are zero offset already and i'd need 50+mm wider each side might just be a bit too much for the wheel bearings.
to be fair, they'd prob be fine with it. datsuns are pretty tough.

Well I would have thought that with 8J wheels and 0 offset the rim sits flush if not 5mm outside the arch. If you get the slim type over fenders and change tyre profile to like 225-50-15 one hopes that the common 1" spacer will be enough? Assuming you want suspension travel...if its purely stance and zero suspension travel then perhaps you need those mahoosive spacers !

the wheels currently sit flush with the arches. nice rivet archs will be at least 50mm wide.
i'd rather run the current size tyres and push the wheels out, then run ballons. i just think that looks better. esp as it's a small car.
anyways. i've decided on some very narrow plastic archs which i'm gonna have a go at fitting and making look like the good ones. i'll prob have to fit spacers with them, but should only need 20mm ones.
i'll see how it goes. this is my first A10 so it's all new to me.

few things... the petrol gauge. it seams very vague and is currently varying between 1/4 and 3/4 full! speedo seams very optomistic... shows 70mph at 3000rpm. i'll have to compare it to a sat nav. brakes are not up to much either, they're ok. but as i'm planning a engine upgrade i need to improve em. drives nice thou. it's tempting me to make a better job of the refurb...

You haven't taken the sill chrome out of the car yet?
Rera brakes will still be bedding in / need adjusting etc , maybe even bleed the whole system to be sure.

Good working factory brakes will stop that L16 all day. I had stock brakes in mine and with 180bhp they were sufficient for fast road use. Ok after a few minutes of spirited driving +braking, they would start fading but hey unless you are doing a track day its not an issue.

good to know. i'll reset and bleed em through and see how they feel after that.
if i do fit the engine i'm planing, it will only have 130bhp and 120ft-lbs torque.
