yeh i agree i've been using this for daily duties and have had a couple issues. firstly it's leaking engine oil quite badly out of the front crank oil seal and the fuel pump, randomly. so anyways, i called up Datman to sort me out some parts and he mentioned that the PCV (positive crankcase ventalation) valve could be faulty/sticky so the crankcase would be over pressurised. so today on my luch break i pulled off the breather hoses and removed the PCV to find that the PVC was indeed stuck shut and the breather pipes were partly blocked with dried oil. i cleaned through the pipes with normal degreaser and put the PCV valve in a cup of paint thinners. gave em a quick rinse through and got the PCV valve freed off and working. put it all back together. sorry no pics as i was pushed for time. so i'll have to see if that helps and will be fitting some new parts, as well as giving it a service. i also need to sort out getting it lowered, i'll most likely be fitting some coil over conveted 280ZX struts to the front which should improve the brakes as well as sort the front ride hight issue. rear i just plan on cutting the springs and swaping in some shorter rear dampers.

this poor old thing. dispite the way it looks and the fact i haven't given it the service attention it deserves, has been raking up the miles commuting and running around in it. rather i've just spent any free time i had on it messing about... well it's slowly breaking, so i'd best start fixing it.... oil leaks, i've kinda slowed down by cleaning out the PCV valve but still need to fix em proper. possible headgasket failure, but not really a big issue as it's just a little water to cylinder leak... and now i've had a fuel pipe bust. it's one of the little ones thats on a SSS carb and conects the float bowl to the jet. i guess the fact it's sat fairly close to the exhaust means it gets pretty harsh treatment and goes from very cool to very hot as well as having to cope with flexing everytime you pull the choke. it was the rear most pipe, makes sence for that one to go first as it gets the heat from the exhaust the most. rubbish pics but here's the rear carb with missing pipe as it fell apart pretty easy. then the front carb where you can see how the pipe should look. then a picture of the new replacement bit of pipe. 4mm internal fuel pipe and some new fuel clips as well. obviously i will be replacing the front pipe and poss a few other fuel pipes as well.

i replaced the front carb fuel hose as well. it looked fine, but i gave it a little tug and it fell apart very easy.
the car was starting up with a bit of a missfire so i thought it may have had a headgasket issue. but now i've replaced the leaking fuel lines it starts up fine. so may have just been that the fuel was draining out overnight and wouldn't run right till it filled back up.
anyway, i'll see how it goes, but looks fine so far.

well i don't know how everyone else is getting on, but i'm finding it pretty hard to get anything done on my car due to the weather... i started doing some service work on this as it's gonna be my only transport if the 280C sells.. so i put it up on axle stands this morning and got underneath to change the gearbox and axle oils. also to check on where the engine oil leak is coming from and fix the leak from the clutch slave. so, gearbox and axle oil changed, swapped the clutch slave and fitted new copper washer so thats all good. looks like the engine oil leak is from the front crank seal as i thought, but didn't have time to fix it before the rain got too heavy... but i did have time to have a good look around underneath the car. considering how rough it looks on top, it's pretty good underneath. hopefully we'll get a few dry days this summer so i can get under it again and clean it up and paint it to make it last a little while longer. once i get all the important service stuff done i can carry on playing with it. i've got some fender flares to fit

Yay, bit of sun today! so... i've been trying to tidy up how the car looks. sorting out my new arch flares and touching up the rusty/holey bits. so while doing this i found some random stuff falling out of the holes in my rear valances bit odd. so i pulled out all the trim in the boot area nd found a load of foam and random stuff wedged in there. not least of which was some service parts... that lot, along with two bin bags full of foam. no wonder the rear arches were going rusty with all that in there trapping moisture emptied out thought it best to remove the rear seating trim to get anything else out and found a load more foam... emptied it all out. i'd better get the rest of the trim out and see what else i find! also. finally refitted the head lining. and i've replaced the front crankshaft oil seal, hopefully no more oil leaks...

Presumably that foam was fitted to give some sound-deadening?

yeh thats all it can be. there's loads in the center console as well. was even in the crossbrace between the rear towers. also found a load of wiring in the boot that seams to be an alarm. has wires going to the door open switchs. i need to go through that lot as the interior light is not working, maybe something has been disconnected
